ACTS CHERRY HILL APARTMENTS FAQs

Acts Cherry Hill Apartments will have a total of fifty-four (54) affordable apartments homes, of which twenty-seven (27) will have Section 8 Project Based Voucher (PBV) assistance. Fourteen of these units will be reserved for homeless individuals. Placement of these 14 units shall be done through the Alameda County Coordinated Entry System. All 27 PBV units, including the 14 homeless units, will be selected in accordance with preferences, detailed in Oakland Housing Authority’s Administrative Plan. The preferences will be weighted and include: 1. Residency Preference 2. Family Preference 3. Veteran Preference and 4. Homeless Preference (McKinney-Vento Act Definition).

There will be three (3) studio apartments, twenty-three (23) one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartments; fourteen (14) two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartments, and fourteen (14) three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments. Sixteen (16) units will be designated for mandatory accessibility use which include (8) units for mobility-impaired residents and eight (8) units for sensory-impaired residents.

The open application period will run from September 26, 2022 until October 10, 2022. Application information may be found on the Alameda County Housing Portal at housing.acgov.org.  Applications may be submitted electronically. If you prefer, an application may also be printed and mailed to the PO Box listed on the application.

An application lottery will take place on or about October 18, 2022.  Results will be published on this website and the Alameda County Housing Portal at housing.acgov.org.  Applicants will then be contacted by the property agent in lottery rank order until vacancies are filled. All information provided on the application will be verified and eligibility confirmed.  If we cannot verify a housing preference that you have claimed, you will not receive the preference but will not be otherwise penalized.

Applications will not be available at the leasing office. Applications will be available via the Alameda County Housing Portal at housing.acgov.org and can be submitted electronically or mailed in.  Paper applications are also available at Acts Cyrene Apartments, 9400 International Blvd, Oakland Ca 94603 on Monday - Friday from 10 am - 12 pm and 2 pm - 4 pm during the open application period.

Acts Cherry Hill Apartments will have minimum and maximum income restrictions. All potential residents will be screened utilizing published resident selection criteria. A copy of the tenant selection plan will be available for review on this website when the open application period begins.

Rents are based on a percentage of Area Median Income and vary by household size and bedroom type. PBV program participants will pay up to 30% of their Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) as their portion of the rent which will be calculated by the Oakland Housing Authority at eligibility screening.

All applicants must be present to participate in the interview process to be considered for housing at Acts Cherry Hill Apartments and subject to COVID-19 Safety Protocols.

No. Acts Cherry Hill Apartments does not offer additional onsite storage nor have enclosed garages.

Each leased apartment will be eligible to enter a raffle for one (1) parking spot. Parking is limited and only available by raffle. Only residents with vehicles, insurance and active vehicle registration will be eligible to participate in the parking lottery. A parking waiting list will be established for residents with vehicles that cannot be accommodated. Bicycle parking will be offered to residents.

The Acts Cherry Hill Apartments Leasing Office does not provide transportation services. Acts Cherry Hill Apartments is located in walking distance to public transit.

Acts Cherry Hill Apartments is a 100% independent living community, however, reasonable accommodations will be provided to residents with disabilities.  Residents living in the permanent supportive housing units will receive case management services.  Programs for residents will be based on the needs of the community and provided at move-in.

Rent control does not apply at Acts Cherry Hill Apartments, and there are a limited number of units with rental subsidies. Minimum and maximum income limits do apply. Portable Section 8 vouchers and other tenant-based rental programs are welcome.

No. All income sources are counted for all household members of an application. Income is based on gross household income of all household members.

Yes. Acts Cherry Hill Apartments is a pet-friendly community. Approved applicants will be provided with a copy of the Acts Cherry Hill Apartments Pet Policy at their eligibility interview.
